Coach's Corner

Six seasons as Head Coach of the Carolina Stallions hasn't been easy, but it has been gratifying. Each year, the challenge of building a team to be competitive gets harder and harder. There are too many obstacles in the way of young athletes coming out to being a part of a great program. The economy issues and finding jobs in our city for young athletes must get better in order for us to be able to compete globally in the football sports arena. We must continue to pursue the fight against crime and drugs in our city which are affecting our young men and women. The support of all citizens working together is necessary to combat these problems.

I will continue to believe that an idle mind has to wonder. Therefore, we must continue to give our young people avenues to become better citizens in our community. We need to stop acting as though we care, and actually be a part of caring. I'm a person who doesn't just give lip service. Now, with six seasons of training and developing talented athletes and conducting youth camps in the city of Rocky Mount, I feel together all things are possible for those who love Jesus Christ.

In the 2005 season, our record was 5 - 7, in 2004 the record was 7 - 6, in 2003 the record was 6 - 5, and in 2002 our inaugural season the record was 7 - 4. The 2006 season produced a 6 - 5 record and a trip to the 1st round of playoffs, with the Stallions losing to the Hornets in the first round. This year, we have brought new players to the team who we feel bring new attitudes. We call them the "Young Stallions". I hope they will be able to perform in a positive manner as their predecessors before them. I have had a great run with the STALLIONS of the past. But, like everything a change must come to become more competitive.

We sincerely thank the superintendent of the Nash-Rocky Mount School System and School Board, Rocky Mount High School Athletic Department and the City of Rocky Mount Department of Parks and Recreation and the Rocky Mount Police Department.

We are looking forward to the 2007 season with great anticipation and high expectations. We extend many thanks to all of our fans and sponsors and welcome everyone to come out and enjoy the games this season at the Rocky Mount Athletic Complex. TELL a friend and come to the game and MAKE a friend! May you all be abundantly blessed.

Michael J. Wright, Head Coach
