STALLION NEWS

The Ruff Riders of Fayettevile have beaten the Carolina Stallions both times in the past two seasons. Saturday night our Stallions turned the tide and put together a stellar performance with young attitudes and the willingness to stay focused, and beat the Ruff Riders 10 - 9 in Saturday night's contest. Late in the first quarter, the Stallions' kicker, Marco Raynoso, kicked a 42 yd field goal to put the Stallions up 3 - 0. "Both Defenses (Stallions and Ruff Riders) did a great job I feel", Coach Michael Wright said. "But my philosophy is to find a weakness", and Coach Wright did just that. First year QB Jody Davis and Antonio Corprew, along with outstanding play by the Offensice line ran off 45 yards on the Ruff Riders and put themselves in the position to score. Corprew broke into the end zone from 12 yds out to put the score at 9-0, extra point kick by Marco Raynoso....making the score 10-0 at the half. In the third quarter, our Defense made great stops all night. The Ruff Riders were threatening to score and MLB George Jefferson picked off QB Curtis Ramsey and returned the interception back 33yds to set the Stallions' offense up at the 30yd line putting the Stallions' offense in position to score once again. Stallions stalled based on penaties and misques by the offense. Stallions were forced to punt with the score still 10-0 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Ruff Rider QB Curtis Ramsey connected with WR Leslie Epps for a 43 yd TD pass with 1:14 seconds remaining in the game, putting the score 10-9. The Stallions received two personal foul penalties which moved the ball to the half yd line. The Ruff Riders went for the 2 point conversion. But the Stallion defense stepped up "BIG" stopping the Ruff Riders causing them to fumble at the 1 yd line. "I saw great defense all night. We just tell our guys to keep playing and believe that you can overcome all things together", said Coach Wright. This Saturday night, June 30, 2007, we face the Virginia Ravens at the Rocky Mount Atheltic Complex. We are asking all fans to come out and support "YOUR TEAM". We thank all sponsors for continuing to believe in our program. God bless all of you.
