"Committed to lending a helping hand on the field and within the community now and in the future."

MISSION AND VISION

OUR VISION

The Carolina Stallions Football Organization is dedicated to being a premiere football organization in the city of Rocky Mount and the eastern region of North Carolina. We strive to maintain a positive, motivating, enthusiastic climate for our athletes, staff, sponsors and volunteers. It is our belief that a successful collaboration between communities, corporations and classrooms help provide our young people with the tools they will need for success in the world beyond the educational arena. It is our hope that the individuals involved in our program come to have a positive impact on their families and the communities in which they live.

OUR MISSION

Working together, our mission is to provide a positive, drug-free environment for the development of young minds, bodies and spirits. We stress strong family values, the importance of education, self-discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork and responsibility for one’s own actions. We believe that this will result in the continual growth, success and strength of our organization in making a positive impact on the lives of our young people. Also, we strive to provide a second chance for young men and women to receive the opportunity to continue the dream of athletics and education beyond the high school and collegiate experience. We will continue to implement an entertainment venue to the City of Rocky Mount, which will bring families closer, business opportunities, and people from all walks of life together for a positive purpose.

ABOUT THE CAROLINA STALLIONS FOOTBALL ORGANIZATION

PURPOSE AND HISTORY

The Carolina Stallions’ Football Organization was established in December, 2001 as the premiere para-professional football organization in the city of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The program was designed to establish Eastern North Carolina as a recognized panacea for minor professional football training and display top-notch football competition by skilled and well-trained athletes. The original football roster was comprised of 55 players. The vision of the program was eagerly embraced by the late Frederick Turnage (former Mayor of Rocky Mount) and Pete Armstrong (former Director of the Department of Recreation).

The program came about as a result of numerous social problems existing in our community. These needs included but were not limited to: the break up of the family unit, high unemployment, the rising illiteracy rates, teen pregnancy, rising high school dropout rates, and a lack of a sense of community and civic responsibility. The Stallion Organization has realized the impact of these issues and is striving to bring change and improvement to our community through sports and educational advancement opportunities.

This organization is a member of the Mason-Dixon Football League headquartered in Petersburg, Virginia. In previous years, the team was a member of the Big Northeast Football Federation, the Colonial Football Association and the United Football League. The majority of the football schedules included at least ten (10) games each season, exclusive of playoffs and championships. The team travel schedule has spanned from New York to South Carolina for football competition. Over the last ten years, the Stallion record is comprised of 64 wins and 52 losses.

The Stallion Empowerment program embraces the community centers through youth football camps, cheerleading camps and mentoring programs. The organization takes an active role in many activities such as:

  • Assisting needy families during holiday season
  • Provide motivational speeches to schools, corporations, civic groups
  • Team church visits
  • College prep assistance to team members
  • Search for grants and scholarships
  • Participates with various organizations (i.e. camps, EOG prep and motivational pep rallies)
  • Promotes counseling, character building and self-discipline

All of these efforts were made possible due to the dedicated support of our sponsors, the City of Rocky Mount and the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The greatest task has been bringing young men together to achieve positive results. The Stallion organization has several athletic collegiate accomplishments to be proud of during the past few years. Athletic scholarships have been awarded by Elizabeth City State University and Fayetteville State University. Four Stallion football players were awarded the scholarships and received degrees. The organization has produced young men selected as coaches, educators and physicians, just to name a few. Throughout each football season, many of the players have been selected as All-Stars and received honors during conference championships. Members of the Carolina Stallions’ Football Coaching Staff are committed to lending a helping hand on the field and within the community now and in the future.
